Renewing Your Vows

7 years ago, my husband and I were young, in love, and out of state away from our families. So, we got married in the courthouse in a judge's chamber. I have a cousin who divorced from his wife and years later, they reconciled and he proposed to her in their home with rollers in her hair while in her bathrobe. Right there on the spot, a family relative, an ordained minister, remarried them in their front room.

Whatever your romantic (or not so romantic) story is, renewing your vows is a lovely way to celebrate your union. Vow renewals can be as creative or as exciting as you want them to be. There are very limited formals to what you cannot do and an wide horizon of all the things you can. (Example - Limited: no bridal showers or bachelor parties; Unlimited: wearing any color wedding dress you want)

Vow renewals can be held during anytime in your marriage, whether it's your 1st, 5th, 25th or 50th anniversary, you can exchange vows all over again. They can be small and intimate or large and lavish. They can be black tie formal or flip flop sandals causal.Or they can be held with just the two of you on the coast of Puerto Rico!

We read online about a couple who travels from city to city and gets remarried all over again. How sweet is that? They have the honor in saying, "I've been married in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York City,...and each time, to the same person!"

Start brainstorming for all the things, you wish you had on your wedding day and how you can create them. Think of colors and DIY projects to get your creativity flowing, And don't let those downers get to you! There may be some that don't see the purpose or may feel it's a waste of money. Well, to them, it may be...but for you and the man that you are madly in love with, it's a chance to rejuvenate your feelings or remind each other of your commitment or exchange vows in the house of God or celebrate with your loved ones or much more!
